My New artist statement. Any opinions?
Photography has been the catalyst of conceptualism in my work. I consider myself a photographer who is becoming a sculpture. The same tools of photography I apply to my work as a sculpture. I have always been intrigued by understanding thoroughly how things work. I embrace what is unique and unexpected. I am obsessive compulsive, so I enjoy tedious details, repetition, and no messes.
I approach my work much like a scientist. My process resembles Darwinism. I feel that an artistic "survival of the fittest" environment makes my work grounded on a foundation of compelling ideas. I value sole authorship and make myself intrinsically involved in a reclusive process. I am most effective when exploring.
I played the violin for many years, and I would practice daily. Yet practice as a visual artist is something forgotten. Practice is different from art making. My project questions the value of practice.
I don't place many rules, as long as I am doing something. I find it usually comes from what I was doing before. The conclusion is simple; do I get better from practicing? Proven and documenting by displaying my practice along with finished works that came directly form it. Compelling myself and other visual artists to always be practicing and therefore improving.

Haynes, the first three paragraphs of your artist statement are great. They are clear and there are a lot of powerful, direct statements in there. Your fourth paragraph is a little sketchy though. There were a few typos. It isn't very clear what you are saying. All the words started jumbling together. I think it needs a little more revision. Be more clear and specific; Use those powerful, direct comments you are so good at :)
if you want specific feedback on your last paragraph, i can give it to you in class sometime. just let me know.
