Video Still From Intervallum

I am releasing another video that I created last year in my masters program. It was great to work with another artist Andrew Nielsen who assisted me. Intervallum is rooted in interval, wich I feel is one of several reoccurring themes. The work means a lot of things to me. It is my first piece to incorporate sound with the moving image. It brings out something funny in huma sociality that we have all experienced. Enjoy Youtube link: http://youtu.be/tlxP2L_gFKs

Summer is over and I am back to being a student. I want to share some new work that happened over the summer. The work is compelling, and unique. It is a body of work called the Human Print Project. I find that it is the closest I have gotten to a literal abstraction of the human body. Something about the work is very primitive.  It is rewarding and exciting to see something you meant to do for so long finally come to fruition and for the work to teach you something you didn't know before; that is what really makes it art.

New Direction

So my experience in Burren is changing my work. I am coming to realize a new medium that is natural to me. Its video. I have so much to learn. Its hard to be patient with ones self especially when you know nothing and you are supposed to know a great deal. I hope to soon incorporate moving image into my website and blog. It is new work with new ideas.

New Project

When I first came to Ireland I was rather disoriented in my work. I didn't know what was going on so I did some paper carving. I was secure with it. This project makes for a triptych of floral spheres. Sometimes artist wish for a closure to something, maybe that's what it is. I am always surprised though how often our closures sneak back in to what we do. I am changing and moving forward. I am watching everything I do point me somewhere new. Creativity can be a rough though very rewarding road.
